OHCOLDRAINHOWIHATEYOU. Yes, you.

Seriously, I can handle rain. I understand the necessity of it, and I respect it, and I even occasionally think it’s pretty. But does it need to be cold, as well? It’s making my feet achy (which, technically, is my own fault, since I refuse to give up the flip-flops) and the rest of me grumpy.

Anyhow.

Today was supposedly a Day Off!, but that ends up being a Dirty Lie! pretty frequently. I went back to work in my “official capacity” today, after a week off, and OH. My gosh. What a mess! My inbox was overflowing, my space was crazy- unorganized, and I had a conference call that put roughly six more things on my already way-full work-plate. So I spent three hours in the store, and then took an armful of binders and folders and paperwork down to our local Panera, and planned to spend some time there, plugging away at that infernal to-do list. However, I had to blog first, of course, and the wireless wasn’t working, so. I ate my lunch, grabbed my coffee and braved the flood waters back home. (In all honesty, I’m just about ready to haul out the hammock I bought for my mom last summer; it’s ark-like. I might need it.)

So I had a photo to accompany this entry, but it was of my work-stuff on the restaurant table, and since I’m not currently there (and since the snapshot’s pretty damn boring), I don’t really feel the need to post it. Agreed? Agreed.

So I have eight thousand things to do, and little time in which to do them, but most importantly, I need to plug the 2008 Walk Against Hunger, which my team, Project Dragonfly, participates in every year. I haven’t been able to pull everything together as much I have in past years, but I’m still super-excited. The event takes place on Sunday, May 4th, in New Haven. Check out our team page for details on how to walk with us or how to donate. Every little bit goes a long way, and with our economy the way that it is right now, food banks across the country are struggling to meet the needs of their communities. So please, please take a moment to send a donation ~ these organizations are so skilled at stretching even a few dollars to achieve so much.

Anyway, that’s that, and I’m off to get started on Cafe business. Happy Monday, everyone!

“…which, technically, is my own fault, since I refuse to give up the flip-flops…” Oh I so feel you. I was stubborn as well, and wore my flip flops into work today… and ended up feeling freezing all day due to the fact that they were constantly damp and icky. I don’t mind the summer showers, and even the occasional thunderstorm – but this is annoying.
